Important advice on forwarding emails!
Do you ever wonder why you get viruses or junk email?
How do these people get your email address?
When you forward an email you are also forwarding information about people who got the message before you - i.e. their email address and name.
Not counting the number of email addresses you enter, this example shows that already 18 names are being made available. This list of addresses and names builds and builds and if someone in the chain gets a virus, his/her computer can send that virus to each and every email address ever received on his/her computer.
Alternatively, anyone can take these addresses , sell them or send junk mail to them in the hope that you will go to their site to possibly profit themselves.
Here are two easy simple steps to stop this from happening...this easy solution really works!
1) When forwarding emails, DELETE all of the other addresses that appear in the body of the message.
It doesn't take long... but before you can do this you must click the "Forward" button, this will enable you to have full editing capabilities in the message body and in the headers of the message. Without clicking on "Forward" first, you won't be able to edit the message at all.
You MUST click the "Forward" button first, then you will have full editing capabilities against the body and headers of the message. If you don't click on "Forward" first, you won't be able to edit the message at all.
Highlight all of the other addresses (highlighted in our example) and delete them either by backspacing on them, or highlight by clicking and dragging on the names then choose cut or delete.
The next step is...
2) Whenever you send an e-mail to more than one person, do NOT use the To: or Cc: fields for adding an email address.
Always use the BCC: (blind carbon copy) field for listing the email addresses. This way people you send to only see their own email address. If you don't see your BCC: option click on where it says To: and your address list will appear. Highlight the address and choose BCC:. When you send to BCC:, your message will automatically say "Undisclosed Recipients" in the "TO:" field for the people who receive it.
So please, let's stop the junk mail and the viruses! Share this advice with your friends, family, anyone you email or anyone who emails you!
